Susanne:

Welcome to the Recovered Christian Podcast. This is Susanne, and today we delve into the comforting words of Psalm 91, 2-4. "This I declare about the Lord he alone is my refuge, my place of safety. He is my God and I trust Him, for he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with His feathers, he will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor in protection. This entire Psalm was my go-to during the pandemic. I absolutely love this Psalm. We'll be covering more of it in the coming days. Every verse is so full of promise and comfort. It's a Psalm of protection. Life can be hard. Recovery can be hard. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, to encounter traps and challenges that seem insurmountable. But in these verses we find assurance that the Lord is our refuge, a safe haven where we can seek shelter. Our trust in Him is not misplaced. In the arms of our Heavenly Father, we discover a refuge like no other. The Psalmist says he alone is my refuge, my place of safety. He is my God, and I trust Him. What a profound statement of faith, acknowledging that our trust in God leads us to a sanctuary where we find peace, security and divine protection. Our God is not just a distant observer. He is intimately involved in our lives, ever ready to rescue us from the pitfalls that seek to entangle us. And aren't there just so many of those? His love is our shield and His grace is our safeguard. Have you ever felt trapped, caught in the snares of life? Maybe it's a struggle with addiction, a broken relationship or the weight of a burden past. The words of Psalm 91 resonate with the promise of rescue. Picture this: Under the protective wings of a mother bird, her chicks find safety and warmth. That's what the Lord does for us. He covers us with His feathers, offering a refuge where we can experience His love and protection. In times of trouble, we're not alone. We are sheltered, cradled in the arms of a God who cares so deeply for us. When I'm feeling stressed or scared or unsure, I picture myself tucked up under the wings of my Father, warm and safe, covered and protected. He will battle for me. I need only to rest and let Him take care of me. And then I pray. I ask the Father to help me feel Him. I ask Him to make His presence known. When I'm feeling lost and need to know that he's got me, I ask Him to let me know He's there, and I cannot tell you how many times I felt an overwhelming peace just flood my heart. He wants us to reach out. He wants to come into our lives, in our hearts, and he's just a breath away. Let's hold on to the assurance that God's faithful promises are our armor and protection. In a world filled with uncertainty, His promises are stead fast, unchanging and a source of strength. We find safety not in our circumstances or our abilities, but in the unwavering promises of our loving God. Let's pray, Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude. Thank you for being our refuge and our fortress In the midst of life's challenges. We trust in your promises. Rescue us from the snares that entangle us and protect us from the trials that seek to harm us. Cover us with your feathers, lord, and shelter us with your wings. May your faithful promises be our constant source of strength and assurance, today and every day. In Jesus' name, we pray Amen. Thank you so much for joining me today. And remember, no matter where you are in your journey, you are not alone. The Lord is your refuge and in Him you can find the safety and shelter your soul longs for. May you find strength and comfort under the wings of the Almighty.
